I want to share a recent experience so that nobody else falls for this scam.

I ordered 2 kurtis from an Instagram seller for ₹900. I even spoke to the seller on WhatsApp. Everything seemed completely normal — regular conversation, delivery address shared, payment made through GPay. Nothing seemed suspicious.

Then came the fraud. 👇

📦 “Ma’am, your parcel is stuck with Amazon delivery. You have to pay the Amazon printed price of ₹1,800. We will refund the ₹1,800 immediately on call, and then your parcel will be delivered.”

The explanation was that since it was a special discounted item, the seller could not show the discounted price to the delivery service. So I was asked to pay ₹1,800 and send my QR code so that the amount could supposedly be refunded.

Unfortunately, I paid ₹1,800. 😔

Then came the next excuse:

“Ma’am, aapne bahut slow payment kiya, isliye order cancel ho gaya. Main dobara QR code bhej raha hoon. Isko regenerate karo, aapko ₹3,600 immediately refund ho jayenge.”

🚨 That’s when I realised I was being scammed.

I had already lost ₹1,800 + the original ₹900 = ₹2,700.

I later checked the WhatsApp number on Truecaller and found it listed as FRAUD.

I reported both the Instagram account and the phone number. Thankfully, the Instagram account appears to have been taken down — but scammers can easily create another account and continue fooling people.

PLEASE BE ALERT 🙏

❌ Never pay an additional “refundable” amount to receive your parcel.

❌ Never believe a story about a parcel being “stuck” because of a price mismatch.

❌ Never scan a QR code or follow instructions to “generate/regenerate” a refund.

❌ If someone says you need to pay money to receive a refund, STOP immediately.

These people can sound extremely genuine and professional. That is exactly how the scam works.

I am sharing this not because of the money I lost, but because ₹900, ₹1,800 or ₹2,700 can be a significant amount for someone else.
